Jacquemus, "Le Raphia": the bucolic ready-to-wear 2023 show

Hats that recall haystacks, pastel colors combined with stronger hues, collars that seem to go on forever. After the salt marshes of the Camargue and the Hawaiian beaches, Jacquemus brings his creations to the catwalk in Paris with the new spring summer 2023 collection "Le Raphia", inspired by the bucolic world of the Mediterranean countryside.

Inspired by the bucolic world, Simon Porte Jacquemus has launched the new ready-to-wear collection for spring summer 2023 , entitled "Le Raphia" , celebrating the light-heartedness, innocence and, if you like, the glamor of the rural world through garments. In the space of the Parc-des-expositions at Le Bourget in Paris , very colorful looks were paraded under a shower of straw mattresses that mix pastel colors with stronger ones, tending towards fluo.

The undisputed protagonist of the new Jacquemus collection is raffia, a poor material par excellence, used to baste the seats of chairs and to create bags or hats. The space of the show is large, round, beige, upholstered in raffia and outlined by a transparent curtain: as soon as the first looks begin to parade, a rain of raffia flakes begins to fall from above. Of this - as of all Jacquemus' collections - the accessories are striking: hats with very wide brims, in woven straw or raffia - reminiscent of the sheaves of wheat which in summer dry in the sun in the countryside of Mediterranean countries -, leather sabots, new mini-bags that we will surely soon see behind influencers and non-influencers, earrings with exaggerated proportions in the shape of a flower.

Simon Porte Jacquemus decided to mix with genres: on the catwalk he alternated very opaque suits with jackets and crop dresses (which in some cases leave Side B in plain sight): even for menswear they showed very short dresses such as shorts polka dots. A strong humorous character can be found in a total denim masculine look covered with a raffia harness to wrap around the bust and in the collars with (almost infinite) lapels, which seem inspired by the sailors' collar, not to mention the aforementioned sheaf hats hay . For the colors he decided to combine pastel colors by combining them with stronger colors; a wide use of tulle (the dress with embroidered flowers is beautiful) and denim, bring to mind the 90s - trendy in the 2022 collections and in the coming seasons - while the very wide collars we mentioned above and some skirts wide brims are reminiscent of 1950s fashion.
