THE STORY OF THE MARQUIS EMILIO PUCCI WAS BORN ON THE SKI SLOPES

Days on the snow together with Pucci and MyTheresa , with whom the brand is collaborating for the second time by opening a boutique in St.Moritz, celebrate technical clothing combined with the brand's typical printed joie de vivre.   It was in fact 1947 when the Marquis Emilio Pucci was spending his holidays in the Swiss Alps as a ski instructor. Already a member of the Italian ski team, a sportsman of aristocratic origins, he had his ski suits made by Florentine seamstresses and then lent them to his girlfriends. It is said that these girls caught the attention of the photographer Toni Frissel who worked at the American magazine Harper's Bazaar. His photographs, including one of Pucci adjusting a woman's skis in the historic "Streamliner" suit, were published in the December 1948 issue along with an article titled "An Italian Skier Designs." In a short time, one of the Marquis's most important contributions to fashion was born, destined to remain iconic: the one-piece ski suit. Subsequently, the publisher Diana Vreeland contacted Pucci proposing to design a collection of women's ski suits. Pucci thus launched his homonymous brand on the island of Capri, soon expanding the repertoire with swimwear and womenswear.
