The official news has arrived, Jonathan Anderson is leaving Loewe after 11 years as creative director . By stepping down from his position as creative director, the British designer has transformed the Spanish leather goods house into one of the most relevant and influential brands in the fashion system that continues to be a pillar of contemporary culture. “ 11 years ago, I was given the most incredible opportunity: to write a chapter in a story that is now 179 years old,” said Jonathan Anderson in his post on Instagram, “ From my first day at Loewe, I found kindred spirits in the design studio and atelier, whose talent was, and continues to be, unmatched. Thank you for sharing your mastery. Over the past eleven years, I have been fortunate to be surrounded by people with imagination, skill, tenacity and ingenuity, capable of finding a way to say ‘yes’ to all of my most ambitious ideas. Looking back, I have realized that a brand is not built with the first show, nor with the first year of shows, but grows slowly, season after season, year after year, following what is right for the brand. One of my proudest achievements is the launch of the Craft Prize. We have created a platform that truly supports and gives visibility to endangered crafts, young artisans, great masters and new ideas. I would like to thank the Foundation team, the Jury members and the panel of experts for their time and dedication. From day one, I imagined creating a cultural brand. This idea has been strongly based on the trust and generosity of many artists, artisans, heirs, foundations, museums and galleries who have contributed their work. I am sincerely grateful to you. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and believed in my vision, and to all the people who have made each show possible. And to those who have participated in the campaigns, written articles, purchased products or simply liked a post: you are the ones who have made it all possible. They say all good things must come to an end, but I disagree. As my chapter comes to a close, the LOEWE story will continue for many years to come, and I will be watching with pride.”
