Nike Re-Creation: the stylish summer upcycling programme
For Sarah Mohssni, the Nike Re-Creation programme is an opportunity to educate and inspire those who may not yet be familiar with upcycling.
Did you know Nike Re-Creation? The virtuous program launched by the brand lands in Paris with a limited collection of reused items, imagined by designer Sarah Mohssni. Behind this idea, that of taking a new step forward, aiming for the zero waste and zero carbon objective.
The choice of Sarah Mohssni was obvious. The young woman is inspired by the energy of her hometown, Paris, to create pieces that show all the creativity of upcycling. After training in fashion design and courses focused on eco-responsible fashion, she fell in love with the concept of upcycling. By challenging herself on a daily basis, she finds herself constantly discovering new clothes and imagining how to transform them into new works of art. Collaborating, communicating and experimenting are the main ingredients of her creative process. The result: inspiring pieces that demonstrate the artistic genius of upcycling .
“When I need inspiration, I love going to thrift stores. What I like is that we don't look at brands, it's just clothes and shapes, and it's very accessible”, explains Sarah Mohssni about her creative process. With the Re-Creation programme, she spreads her knowledge and know-how around upcycling. “It allows many people to discover upcycling and open it up to an even wider audience. For a brand as iconic as Nike, I think it's important to share new values with everyone,” she tells us.
