Onitsuka Tiger celebrates 75 years at Milan Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 24
With a fashion show that pays homage to Japan, Andrea Pompilio mixes the codes of Onitsuka Tiger with an increasing formality. However, without losing the young spirit of a brand that celebrates 75 years this year.
Onitsuka Tiger turns 75 and the creative director, Andrea Pompilio , has created an autumn winter 2024-25 fashion show entirely focused on the relationship between the brand and its homeland, Japan. The plating on the garments "renders the wet effect of someone who is suddenly caught in a storm on the streets of Tokyo". And as in the palette in any Japanese city, shades of grey are combined with black and beige. And to yellow, the symbolic colour of Onitsuka Tiger .
The flagship item of the collection is both a scarf and a crop top: « it is a ribbed wool top with zip collar, inspired by the brand's most iconic track top » . For women, contrasting trousers: "stretch cigarette or oversized with a masculine cut" . Then fluid microskirts or silk paneled dresses in solid colour or completely embroidered with shiny and opaque sequins, to be worn with wool socks, the new creepers or the V-neck pumps with chunky heels, a debut for the brand, with maximum comfort and non-slip performance. Coats, jackets and cabans have deconstructed and wide shoulders, a narrow waist that is enhanced "by ribs created with tailoring procedures made of small tubular padding". Among the footwear there is also a new innovative hybrid model, the evolution of the classic lace-up shoes that blend with rubber and trekking boots.
