The "working girl" look, with a touch of glamour, from Michael Kors

In his latest collection at New York Fashion Week, Michael Kors combines retro elegance and modern practicality for the everyday life of working girls.

On the final day of New York Fashion Week , as Suki Waterhouse , Rachel Zegler , and Kerry Washington took to the front rows, Michael Kors offered his own solution to the commuter grind: Why not add a touch of glamour to the classic working-girl look? Set to a symphonic ’80s soundtrack, he imagined modern women like Melanie Griffith and Sigourney Weaver heading to the executive suite, with a confidence boost to boot. While the designer stuck mostly to his neutral palette of black, grey, and camel—with pops of plum, lavender, and sea green—he went all out with maximalist textures, from a shimmering trench coat to a grey flannel skirt suit with sequined sleeves. Models carried structured bags, some trimmed with faux fur, to dramatic opera gloves. Oversized pendants, worthy of a gallery exhibition, also made an impression. The style, too, brought freshness: masculine suits worn over a bra, a glimpse of that 'stomach that you can't see', even sophisticated pajamas for working girls working from home.
