After 30 years, including the last five as artistic director, Virginie Viard is leaving Chanel . On Wednesday 5 June 2024, the fashion house confirmed her departure to Vogue Business." Chanel confirms the exit of Virginie Viard after a rich five-year collaboration as artistic director of the fashion collections, during which she was able to renew the codes of the maison respecting Chanel's creative heritage, and almost thirty years within the brand", reads a note from the Chanel house.
"A new creative organization will be announced in due course. Chanel would like to thank Virginie Viard for her notable contribution to the fashion, creativity and vitality of Chanel." Virginie Viard was appointed artistic creative director in 2019 after the death of Karl Lagerfeld, and as of today every designer's dream job is vacant. Who will succeed her? Who will take over one of the most successful brands in the luxury world? The Chanel Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2024/25 collection will be presented as scheduled on June 25 at the Opéra Garnier in Paris.
