Paris Men's Fashion Week: the new gentleman from Givenchy
The House's Men's Ready-to-Wear Studio offers a look at the new gentleman, inspired by the character of Hubert de Givenchy himself .
Presented in the salons of 3, Avenue George V - where the founder, Hubert de Givenchy , created his collections - the Men's autumn-winter 2024 line from the eponymous Maison explores the public and private duality of its wardrobe: an enriched sartorial formality an inimitable sense of nonchalance, opulence and seduction outside of working hours. Revised through a contemporary lens, it reflects a wardrobe based on the virtues of dressing, but irresistibly driven by a burst of novelty.
The white blouse worn by Hubert de Givenchy in his workshop is recontextualized into elegant work clothing, in its versions with and without sleeves. The clothing comes in refractions of sapphire, a colour range so beloved by the founder that he considered it an alternative to black. The suit with the neat silhouette of Parisian playboys is transformed in the expanded volumes of the pants, while the tension between masculine and feminine is palpable. A sumptuous chandelier motif from the archives — here imagined in metallic embroidery with crystals and pearls, in jacquards and prints — contrasts with teddy bear coats, as well as bomber jackets. An archival scarf printed with braided hair is recreated — worn nonchalantly.
In addition to an infinite diamond-shaped G monogram , also borrowed from the past, the precious logo belt from Hubert de Givenchy 's wardrobe is celebrated with the resumption of the 2G logo applied to the buckles. His penchant for beautifying women's backs is celebrated with long necklaces. Each model wears the signet ring that Hubert de Givenchy used to wear, while the sunglasses are dandy. Slipper-style shoes are elegant, made from a range of refined materials and enhanced with the comfort of velvet. Respecting Hubert de Givenchy 's love for nature, the Voyou bag becomes a model in hammered buffalo leather, velvety cowhide or shearling, and is transformed into small accessories in brushed leather with an equestrian spirit. The Pandora bag is renewed in multi-pocket versions with rich textures such as deerskin, textile and velvety cowhide.
