With his “Porterville” show, the designer delivers an intimate and poignant testimony, between cosy and terrifying volumes.
It's an event in itself: the guests at the Rick Owens fashion show were surprised upon receipt of their invitation, for the good reason that the autumn-winter 2024 show would not be held at the Palais de Tokyo — as we were used to. — but at his own Parisian home.
Rick Owens not only gave us a glimpse into his apartment, he also dedicated the show to his hometown, with this collection titled " Porterville ." Small town in southern California, it's where the designer grew up with his sometimes mocked sensitivity. The clothes translate these feelings: between pieces being embodiments of the dark and the decadent, the strange and the beautiful. Gigantic inflatable boots, created in collaboration with Straytukay, leather sets, masks, protuberances. Pure Rick Owens , with an even more disturbing addition of soul that touches our hearts.
