Ben Pundole is an award-winning hospitality entrepreneur and founder of the online travel platform A Hotel Life. He is widely known for his work with Ian Schrager – with whom he has collaborated for 23 years — on luxury lifestyle hotel brand EDITION. Ben also consults for HOLOS, a psychedelic retreat centre in Costa Rica; and for a future-forward wellness resort in Aruba. Tansy Kaschak is a Brazilian-Italian journalist, editor, cultural curator and advocate for socio-political and environmental causes. She uses writing, art, video and public speaking as means to build awareness, foster community and encourage dialogue and action. Tansy works on global creative projects and contributes to a variety of international media outlets, as well as being Editor in Chief of A Hotel Life. The nomadic pair settled in Ibiza last year in order to fulfil Ben’s role as Creative Director of The Beach Caves, a recently launched ‘hotel within a hotel’ project from the Six Senses Ibiza. Ben and Tansy live in the north, where they’ve quickly made their mark on the social scene. When exploring Ibiza, the couple favour owner-run creative spots with great music and an upbeat vibe. In a recent conversation with L’Officiel Ibiza, our global hospitality insiders shared – in their own words – the go-to hangouts they’ve adopted on the island.

NUDO

When you hear that a group of kitchen magicians fled the best restaurant in the world to find a new life in idyllic Ibiza, you surely want to know what’s cooking. Brought to life by partners Azul, Pablo Fernández-Valdes, and head chef Edo Fiaschi, Nudo’s combination of organic wines, local kombucha, and Balearic deliciousness from farm and sea. Overlooking the turquoise waters of Es Figueral, this is a recipe for the best lunch you’ll have this summer.

Hämbre

Brooklyn in Ibiza, in the best possible way! In fact, the owners Antía Pagant and Matias Romano, once lived in our New York neighbourhood. Even though the low-key, high-vibe, simple, and sophisticated street-side city fix in Santa Eularia town is a perfectly sexy little place, the ambiance here comes a close second to the food, which is just outstanding. Small dishes to share — possibly the best you’ll ever have. The menu is constantly evolving but we just pray they will forever keep the mussels on toast. Don’t leave without trying them.

Tierra Iris

1 / 2

One starry night in Baja California Sur, not too many moons ago, our friend Mathia Milani shared with us a vision for a community focused on the regeneration of land, body, mind, and spirit. In Ibiza, he brought his dream to life in the shape of a gorgeous permaculture garden, a forest, a retreat centre, and a natural amphitheatre that hosts concerts, classes, workshops, and some. A highlight is the pachamanca feast, a Peruvian indigenous technique where a plant-based meal is slowly cooked with fire underground.

Akasha

Right by the famous Las Dalias hippie market, two dimensions in one building: outside, the white-painted and commonly seen architecture that is predominant on the island. Inside, a brutalist, Berlin-esque electronic music temple. The state-of-the-art sound system, the mind-blowing visuals, the DJ unexpectedly placed right in the middle, and the small and intimate size of the room make it our new favourite spot to dance in Ibiza.

ChAI ShOP

The island is filled with wonderful characters, and Diego and Alexeja are undoubtedly an exemplary duo. The all-around creatives and interior designers open their eclectically fitted home and garden to lucky visitors seeking treasures, inspiration, and a perfect cup of chai. By appointment only.

The Agora at the Six Senses

Legendary fashion stylist Daniela Agnelli partnered with the Six Senses Ibiza to launch a shop featuring only brands with a strong sustainable and responsible focus. Clothes, accessories, and objects from near and far are elegantly curated, plus a selection of party dresses that can be rented — how fun is that?

Primal Moves

Ingenious, local, in-the-know workout regime that is fun and wild and will get your body fit and sculpted. Using animal-like moves, active stretching, inversions, and quite amazing music, it will work muscles you didn’t even know you had — Michelangelo would be proud. Led by one of our local heroes, Nic Brewer, the daily classes are attended by all the fun friends you’d be sharing dancefloors with.

La Bella Verde

A future-forward sea escape: sailing the magical waters of Ibiza aboard solar-powered catamarans, fuelled by great music and the coolest captains and crew. The boats take up to 12 people and can be rented for half or full days, a week, or for the weekend. They can arrange a picnic, or you can take your own munchies as you cruise between here and Formentera.

The Beach Caves Restaurant & Bar

Perfect sunsets, local seasonal food inspired by Latin America, world-class cocktails by Davide Segat, and live music every night. The Beach Caves has a commitment to being as local, sustainable, and low waste as possible. Wednesdays through the summer are the night to go. Make sure you arrive early enough to see the sun light up the massive gold-leaf mural painted by artist Carlito Dalceggio.
