They weren't ready to say bye, bye, bye quite yet. While the 2023 MTV VMAs has already been quite the night with memorable red carpet appearances from Selena Gomez, Olivia Rodrigo, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, and Saweetie, the award show has also been a night to remember off the carpet as well — all thanks to a chart-topping boy band.

Early 2000s boy band NSYNC had a special reunion on the 2023 MTV VMAs stage. The former group consists of Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Lance Bass. Their reunion comes exactly 10 years after since they last were on the award show's stage together in 2013 for Timberlake’s Video Vanguard Award medley.

Rumors of a reunion first circled the internet when fans noticed all the members were separately spotted throughout New York this weekend. Timberlake was having a good time as the 2023 US Open, Fatone was photographed speaking to fans, and Bass was spotted having drinks in Manhattan. Chasez and Kirkpatrick weren't technically spotted in the area, but social media was quick to point it couldn't be a coincidence more than half of the group was in the city the same weekend as the award show.

That could only mean one thing: a reunion was in the works.

The group has also already been alleged to make a reunion performance together, as they are rumored to be recording a song for the upcoming film Trolls Band Together — the third movie in the Trolls franchise. Due to the ongoing strikes, NSYNC did not mention anything about the rumored performance while at the award show, though this would be their first musical release together since 2002.

They were best known for hit songs "Bye, Bye, Bye," "Tearin' Up My Heart," "It's Gonna Be Me," and "This I Promise You." They ultimately went on a hiatus in late 2022, followed by a confirmed break up in 2007. Even then, they remain one of the most influential boy bands in American music, still maintaining a strong following.
