Who is Ariana Greenblatt? Get to Know the Feistiest Teen in Barbie Land
From playing with the dolls in Disney Channel’s Stuck in The Middle to lecturing them about the patriarchy in Barbie, Ariana Greenblatt is making a name for herself.
Chock-full of memorable and poignant moments, the Barbie movie’s surprising star came not from the industrious dolls, but from Sasha, the daughter of America Ferrera’s Gloria, who starts off the film totally disillusioned with the original ideals of Barbie.
Played by Ariana Greenblatt, Sasha’s role as she grows closer with her mom and helps the Barbies of Barbie Land hits deep for daughters everywhere. And, while you may be thinking that the 15-year-old was the perfect actress to play a younger version of Ferrera as her daughter, Greenblatt actually has a lot of experience with playing the younger version of beloved characters in movies and TV shows. Get to know the spunky and dynamic Ariana Greenblatt as her career takes off.
She got her first child acting role as Daphne Diaz, the youngest member of the family in Stuck in the Middle in 2016. Starring in that show must be some sign of future career success, as she acted alongside Jenna Ortega who played middle child Harley. Daphne was the quintessential youngest daughter, always in tutus with messy hair and crazy lipstick on her face. She would be the type of girl that would make her dolls look a whole lot like Kate McKinnon’s Splits Barbie.
A year later she got her first film role in A Bad Moms Christmas. It wasn’t long until Greenblatt was up again on the big screen, this time in a major way, as young Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War. Clearly adept at playing the younger version, she also played a young Nina Rosario in In The Heights in 2021. Other film credits include Love and Monsters (2020) alongside Dylan O’Brien and the Netflix science fiction thriller Awake (2021).
But this year, in particular, has been a big one for Greenblatt. Beyond starring in the biggest film of the year so far, she also starred in 65 with Adam Driver, a thriller about a pilot crash landing on an early planet Earth.
More than an actress, Greenblatt also has some dancing skills. She was one of the three runners-up on Dancing With the Stars: Juniors in 2018. Already so accomplished so young, Ariana Greenblatt is sure to continue impressing as she goes from spunky child roles to feisty teenagers and beyond.
