Halima Aden Talks NYFW Essentials While Getting Ready for the Tommy Hilfiger Brunch
The model shares her fashion week must-haves while giving a behind-the-scenes glimpse of her day at the Tommy Hilfiger x SZA Brunch.
While buzzy brands such as Peter Do's debut at Helmut Lang and Stuart Vever's 10-year anniversary show for Coach brought expected excitement from the New York Fashion Week calendar, it was Tommy Hilfiger that truly brought forward major star power. Off the calendar, with an "if you know you know" invite, Hilfiger hosted an exclusive brunch in partnership with SZA on Sunday at the private social club Maxwell in Tribeca.
Among the celebrity guest list — which included Aoki Lee Simmons, Coi Leray, Darren Barnet, Doechii, Jasmine Tookes, La La Anthony, Jordyn Woods, Madelyn Cline, Rachel Sennott, and Tinx — was high fashion model Halima Aden. The hijabi-wearing supermodel truly needs no introduction, having already broken many barriers in the fashion world at 25 years old.
Having formed a close friendship with Hilfiger over the years, it should come as no surprise that Aden was one of the exclusive attendees, and looking fashionably forward in her all denim outfit. Ahead, Aden talks NYFW, her fashion must-haves, and gives us a behind-the-scenes peek at her day at the Tommy Hilfiger x SZA brunch.
L'OFFICIEL: Tommy Hilfiger celebrated emerging tastemakers in fashion, art, music, and more. Who are some figures that have been influencing your tastes in those categories recently?
Halima Aden: Sergio Hudson is someone who has captivated me recently by the way he continues to push boundaries in the fashion industry. In the art space, artists such as Yayoi Kusama have introduced me to versatility in terms of colours and patterns. When it comes to music, SZA is definitely always on repeat! I was excited to see her at Tommy’s brunch.
L'O: What are your fashion week essentials?
HA: Staying comfortable and organised is a must when it comes to fashion week, especially with how hectic schedules can get. My must-haves are electrolytes packets for hydration, my meditation journal, chic comfortable clothes to run around in, a portable charger, and most importantly a positive attitude.
L'O: Who's the most interesting person you've met during fashion week?
HA: Everyone I got to meet this week have all been important to me. My favorite thing about fashion is you never know who you will meet. Everyone has been so interesting to get to know.
