Out of the ordinary story

It is an understatement to say that Henry's Townhouse is a place steeped in history, since the residence was that of Jane Austen's favorite brother, Henry. The latter lived at this esteemed address in the 18th century, at the height of Regency London society which still inspires so many dreams today. The building stands out from the outside with its typically British facade, its tranquility conducive to a certain urban meditation. Together, owners Steven and Jane Collins , in collaboration with Russell Sage Studio , worked hand in hand to restore the building to its former glory. The interiors combine the Georgian glamor of a bygone era – featuring heavy, warm fabrics, artwork and antiques – combined with the contemporary amenities of a luxury hotel.

Dialogue between history and modernity

Despite its charm echoing the past, Henry's Townhouse surprises with its colourful, vibrant and playful spaces. We climb the narrow steps to go from one floor to the next, we discover hidden nooks and crannies at every turn, we find ourselves climbing up to a secret outdoor terrace — with a view of the London skyline to boot. Choosing one of the six bedrooms is the only challenge when staying at Henry's Townhouse. Each room represents a different member of the Austen family and their personal history. To step through the door of your room is to enter the intimacy of a historical character and to celebrate him. We like the nods scattered here and there: a book signed Jane Austen at your bedside, quotes and portraits cleverly slipped onto a note or other key ring. In addition to private spaces, the sophisticated Henry's Drawing Room invites guests to sit down for afternoon tea or a glass of wine with other guests after dinner. Next door, Jane's Reading Room - the largest reception room in the establishment - reveals a cosy decoration with its seats covered in rich velvet and subtle prints, its antique furniture, not to mention its large crystal chandelier which fills the room. space of subdued light. Finally, Mr. Halavant's office is transformed into a Georgian-inspired kitchen and dining room - in which you can enjoy one of the best breakfasts in the capital. No matter which room you decide to wander into during your stay, the promise of a timeless getaway is kept at Henry's Townhouse.
