INFLUENCERS, an exhibition of pioneers who shape art and design, Milan
From an idea by 74tharts, a platform created to explore culture, connectivity and business, INFLUENCERS is the event not to be missed.
Speaking of exhibitions to see in Milan , from October 23 to 31, INFLUENCERS: pioneers who shape art and design today opens, a collective exhibition of 22 international artists that celebrates the influence of Louise Bourgeois, Barbara Hepworth, Carol Rama and Cindy Sherman in today's contemporary world. Organized by 74tharts, a global art company founded by Becca Hoffman to explore culture, connectivity and commerce through a series of nomadic pop-up events, after Vienna and Aspen, INFLUENCERS arrives in Milan in the form of an exhibition and sale of art and design framed by a busy calendar of collateral activities and intercultural events to celebrate intergenerational influences on art and design.
It is clear that borrowing the role of influencers as we know it today in the context of social media is a metaphorical assist to channel what we can instead define as a very strong charismatic component typical of artists and creative minds, and who here unpack their worlds through multiple languages to tell intergenerational and cultural ties. In the exhibition INFLUENCERS curator Maya Binkin explores the profound impact and artistic legacy of pioneers such as Louise Bourgeois, Barbara Hepworth, Carol Rama and Cindy Sherman, as well as their influence on contemporary artistic and design practices such as thematic and formal explorations of identity and human experience, innovations in technique and media. The exhibition, set up in the Blindarte spaces in via Palermo 11, will present paintings, sculptures, works on paper, photographs, prints, furniture and design jewellery by artists and designers ranging from A by Anthony Akinbola to M by Christabel MacGreevy and Polly Morgan, up to R by Carol Rama and T by Liliane Tomasko. Also available for purchase. And a collection of books and catalogs on the work of Bourgeois, Hepworth, Sherman and Rama will provide a space dedicated to research and consultation.
INFLUENCERS is a project that extends beyond the exhibition, incorporating moments of connection, community, and education through events that strengthen the impact of intergenerational artistic exchange and influence to heal, inspire, and reimagine. Starting Wednesday, October 23, events and activities include a preview screening of the art film REBIRTHDAY by Los Angeles-based designer Aliona Kononova and two-time Grammy-nominated and Emmy-winning choreographer and director Ryan Heffington. A visual poem and journey of healing and acceptance dedicated to Kononova’s late mother, the film is a visual poem and journey of healing and acceptance. And the art installations, titled “INFLUENCERS – Through The Looking Glass,” exhibited in two locations, Enoteca La Botte Fatale ( Via Giuseppe Giacosa 11) and the new Spazio MM ( Via Maroncelli 3) , open to the creative community, offer further food for thought and sharing.
INFLUENCERS: October 23-26 and October 28-31, 12:00-18:00. October 27 - Closed; closing cocktail 18:00-20:00. Free admission.
