The facial skin care routine is already common in the routine of thousands of men, however, paying attention to body skin care is also of paramount importance, as it also suffers daily aggressions from the climate, friction from clothes, pollution, among others. This is the case of the region of the legs and arms, which tend to be more exposed, causing dry skin, neck and torso, which are also more susceptible to damage, such as the appearance of marks and premature aging. In addition, armpits and feet also need to be included in the skincare routine, as they are areas that can have bad odor, flaking and stains.

According to WGSN, one of the largest trend research companies in the market, in a report published at the end of 2021, until 2024, the “skinification” process, that is, the way to give the same attention and quality of care to the body skin, seen in the face region, should reach different beauty sectors, since in recent years both women and men have looked at themselves with more affection and had the opportunity to take better care of themselves.

Dr. Mariana Veloso , a doctor who works in the area of dermatology and aesthetic medicine, reports that it is common to think first about the care of the face, than the body, as it is the region that is most exposed. But the body also needs special attention and care with products that are made specifically for each area. “The attentive look at the needs of the body's skin and the understanding of the nutrients it needs has been growing more and more. Body-oriented products have greater skin hydration potential, acting directly against dryness in areas such as knees, elbows and heels. Vegetable oils, on the other hand, help nourish the skin, for example” , points out the expert.

"It's important to remember that before starting any skincare routine, you need to know your skin type and consult a specialist so that he can advise which are the best products and the best type of routine for you", explains the doctor.

No underarm stains

Stains under the arms can be caused by several reasons, from chronic irritation during depilation, folliculitis, inappropriate use of products, constant friction from tighter clothes or even systemic diseases such as Lupus, because the armpits are the most sensitive regions and susceptible to skin problems.

“To avoid blemishes and folliculitis, the recommended thing is after bathing with bactericidal soap, dry the region well and use roll-on deodorants or fennel-based creams, as these products usually have a moisturizing function that enhances care with the region. Avoid using products that have aluminum, alcohol and sodium bicarbonate in their composition, as these elements tend to obstruct the sweat glands and generate negative impacts such as irritation and the formation of stains. that this process generates a rebound effect”, points out the specialist.

The doctor explains that to treat certain stains, it can be indicated from the use of whitening dermocosmetics based on glycolic acid, for example, to the performance of lasers, such as intense pulsed light, Nd YAG and fractional lasers. In addition, the home use of topical whitening actives, such as hydroquinone, alpha hydroxy acids, kojic acid, alpha arbuting, among others, can also be prescribed.

Legs and arms always hydrated

In addition to the armpits, care for the legs and arms is also essential, especially on warmer days. The regions, which tend to be drier regardless of the season, should be cleaned with soaps based on moisturizing actives such as glycerin and ceramide, and in foam format. In addition, it is recommended to perform an exfoliation every 15 days and use products that will hydrate the skin, such as creams or oils based on shea butter, niacinamide, carnosine and vitamin E, since these actives help in the repair of the skin's protective barrier.

The specialist still recommends that we should choose the soap according to our skin type and indicates some components that the product should contain. “The options are several, among them are more products: moisturizing, glycerinated, more natural, liquid, bar, for sensitive skin and foam for drier skin”, says Dr. Mariana Veloso.

no cracked feet

Feet are the only parts of our human body that touch the ground directly, so paying special attention to them brings many benefits, such as improving circulation in the region, reducing pain and even preventing diseases. But to carry out this care, it is necessary to understand that this region is thicker, due to factors such as direct exposure to the soil and the support of our body, so it needs to be taken care of with products specific to the region.

"To prevent and keep the skin of the feet healthy and hydrated, it is recommended to exfoliate the skin and use keratolytic substances, such as urea in high concentrations or acids. Salicylic and lactic acids help remove excess keratin, thinning the thickest layer of the skin, thus allowing its hydration and deep healing. These types of products may have higher concentrations when the intention is to treat cracks. During the bath, the feet must always be washed carefully, pass a sponge between the fingers and dry well with a dry towel, this process will prevent the appearance of conditions such as bad smell, fungi and mycoses in the region”, recommends the doctor.

In addition, the specialist indicates that it is worth carrying out the process of scalding the feet, since the technique, in addition to offering a moment of relaxation, helps in the circulation of blood through water with medicinal herbs such as chamomile, fennel, green tea , mint, rose petals or essential oils. It is worth carrying out the process after standing for a long time or practicing physical activity for a long period.
