8 Must See Fashion Trends From the Spring/Summer 2024 Runways
From bright colours to denim and shiny metallics to sheer florals, these are the hottest trends from the 2024 Spring/Summer runways.
This New York Fashion Week has been one to remember with designers like Prabal Gurung and Ralph Lauren showcasing their unique take on fashion trends that we have all known and loved for a while now. Many have even found ways to incorporate multiple trends highlighted here into one look on the runways this past week. Designers like Kim Shui and Christian Siriano understood the assignment when it came to sending fashion-forward looks down the runways this NYFW. Read on to see what trends you need to add to your wardrobe in time for the 2024 spring and summer seasons.
Bright Colors
Bright colours have always been associated with anything spring- or summer-related and designers this season made sure to not leave this trend behind when it came to their garments this NYFW.
Denim on Denim
The great American classic denimwear was certainly a hot topic that took over the SS24 runways in New York City this week. Whether it be a Canadian tuxedo or a denim piece with a unique touch like fur or graphic prints, be sure to make note to play around with denim in your wardrobe come next spring and summer.
Metallics
Ralph Lauren went for the gold this season curating a variety of chic metallic gold looks, as well as designers LaPointe and Prabal Gurung. With this being said, they deserve a gold medal for the trendiest NYFW runway looks this season.
Oversized Outerwear
Though spring and summer are typically associated with warmer weather, it doesn't always start out that way. Designers have got you covered with chic outerwear pieces to spice up your style during the transitional period from chillier temperatures to warm and sunny afternoons. Even when the warmer weather does hit next spring, add a sleek oversized blazer to your look if you want to make a bold statement with your style.
Matching Sets
Coach and Helmut Lang showed us this NYFW that matching sets don't have to be just for loungewear. A sophisticated blazer and skirt set or two-piece dress set can certainly make a mark in your wardrobe trend-wise.
Cottagecore & Coquette
Cottagecore and coquette can be deemed fairly similar, and designers this NYFW found a way to marry the two. Coach really tapped into this trend this time as seen on the runways, as did PatBo and Kim Shui. If you're looking for ways to add multiple trends into your wardrobe at once next spring, try adding a bright-coloured, cottagecore set like seen on models for Coach and Anna Sui.
Sheer Materials
Designers really tapped into tulle and sheer materials this season with a unique spin. Altuzarra added a fun touch of tulle to garments like dresses, veils, and blazer suitsets as did Priscavera and Adeam. Even a classic that we all know and love, Ralph Lauren, found a way to play with these materials on the runway this time.
Corsets
Playing into the cottagecore and coquttecore trends seen this season on the runways, corsets have been making a name for themselves as well this season. If you're looking to bring all of the trends together with one look or garment this upcoming spring, do so with a corset that features bright colours, sheer materials, and maybe even denim, as seen on models walking for Kim Shui this season.
