Does CHANEL's bold move signal a change in the luxury industry?
CHANEL launches its first wearable technology design with the Première Sound watch, will this be a bold move that signals a change in the luxury industry?
In a bold move that signals a shift in the luxury industry, CHANEL has launched its first wearable technology design with the Première Sound watch, without sacrificing style or elegance. The innovative timepiece, which can also be worn as a necklace, features wired headphones, a microphone and remote control, marking the French fashion house’s entry into the burgeoning smart accessory market.
The development of Première Sound began with a conceptual sketch by CHANEL’s Director of Watchmaking, Arnaud Chastaingt, and represents a strategic turning point for the luxury brand. By partnering with sound specialist Master & Dynamic, known for its collaborations with other luxury brands, CHANEL has skillfully combined its renowned craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology.
The launch also reflects a broader trend in the luxury industry, where traditional brands are increasingly adapting to meet the needs of a digitally savvy customer base. The Première Sound is likely to appeal to affluent customers who seek a combination of luxury brand prestige and modern functionality in an accessory.
The introduction of “premium audio jewelry” could redefine the intersection of high fashion and technology. It also underscores the luxury industry’s ongoing efforts to stay relevant and appealing to a younger generation that values innovation alongside heritage.
The Première Sound watch is expected to be available in stores from September 2 and will retail for around 14,800 euros.
