Christian Wijnants is appointed Artistic Director for Maison Ullens
Ten years after its creation, Maison Ullens remains faithful to a philosophy of movement, comfort and chic. Its successor is the holder of a subtle sophisticated elegance.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 1996, Christian Wijnants has established himself as one of the major creators of the Belgian scene. Her fashion highlights an intelligent femininity , between bold colors and supple silhouettes, letting the body move in a sensuality without cliché. The designer shares with Maison Ullens a tactile and sensory approach to clothing: fluid and modular, versatile and elegant, but above all insensitive to trends.
Myriam Ullens , founder of Maison Ullens in 2012, imagined her eponymous brand as an embodiment of her lifestyle and values . For her, elegance is as much an attitude as a look. His constant search for beauty and quality goes beyond appearances. She had been following Christian Wijnants' journey for a long time when she contacted him almost two years ago. From the first meeting, the bond was immediately woven. With him, Myriam Ullens intends to further affirm the Belgian character of the house which she wants to inscribe in the tradition of a country whose design schools build a fashion where quality and creativity go hand in hand .
For the first act of the new artistic director, the Winter 2023 collection is an ode to nature . Christian Wijnants takes us to Wyoming — drawing his inspiration from a palette of colors where yellows, oranges and greens burst; giving pride of place to noble materials like shearling, leather and cashmere . If the collection will be unveiled in its entirety next February, the designer has already teased a first promising silhouette.
