«I fell in love with the idea of reviving a Balenciaga couture dress, given the "Garden of Time" theme of the Met Gala» . Nicole Kidman has in fact chosen to climb the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum bringing to life a couture creation from the 1950s by Cristobal Balenciaga . The dress, famous for having appeared in the April 1951 issue of Harper's Bazaar photographed by Richard Avedon , was part of the Parisian fashion house's spring-summer 1951 collection.
