The Gift Hidden Within The Intensely Transformative Scorpio Full Moon
You may have begun to notice the fresh energy of renewal as we entered the season of pleasure last week, when the Sun started its annual thirty day dance through the constellation of Taurus.
Ruled by planet Venus, Taurus reminds us of life’s natural delights and invites us to indulge in luxurious, blissful pursuits. Doing those things that bring us love, joy and remind us what a gift it is to be alive.
However, don’t be surprised if you’re not feeling full of the joys of Springtime just yet, it may be because we have a few tricky astrological transits to sidestep first…
Firstly, the destructive planet Pluto is grinding to a halt in the early degrees of Aquarius preparing to station retrograde for the summer. It is doing this at a challenging square aspect to the Taurus Sun exposing some guilt and resistance to the pleasure seeker in all of us.
Plus, Mercury is still retrograde in combustible Aries until April 26th messing around with our thoughts and conversations.
What’s more, tomorrow (April 23rd) we have arguably the most intense Full Moon of the year as the moon in Scorpio opposes the Taurus sun. Adding to this mix, Scorpio’s ruling planet, Pluto, will be challenging this Scorpio Full Moon.
Before you sigh a deep breath of despair, let’s break this down some more to understand what it all means and the gift that lies within it.
Full Moons are the climatic times of each 28 day lunar cycle when the moon and sun are directly opposite, the sun directing its full light onto the moon’s surface. As the moon represents our unconscious drives and emotional nature, suddenly what’s usually hidden feels very exposed and raw in all of us.
Full Moons magnetically draw our innermost unconscious feelings to the surface to be felt and acknowledged. For example; unworthiness, failure or isolation. We all feel this way to some degree. It is part of the human experience to do so, so let’s stop pretending otherwise!
Exposure is the first step to freeing ourselves from these as we can not remedy what we are not aware of. What remains hidden controls us, handcuffing us in guilt and shame - the lowest emotional vibrations on the Hawkins scale of consciousness. This process or revelation can be deeply uncomfortable and confronting to our ego, so we try to avoid it by drowning the feelings out, only for them to keep us restricted and trapped or uncontrollably bursting out in ways that we later regret.
So, paying attention to our feelings and emotions during Full Moons is actually to our benefit.
Full Moons also represent a time of awareness and news. We may come to learn things about ourselves or others. As the moon rules the public, there can be breaking new stories and developments on the days surrounding the Full Moon.
This Scorpio Full Moon is within the lunar cycle of a very powerful Aries New Moon Eclipse. We continue to navigate the energy waves emitting from that cosmic event, with things in our lives continuing to alter and shift into new directions. This Full Moon is one of the peak times during this cycle when this is likely to happen, because of its exposing nature and the moon’s role as an event trigger.
Taurus and Scorpio are the signs across the money and worth axis. What we own, possess and value as individuals (Taurus) and where we merge ownership with others (Scorpio).
We can expect news of a financial nature to dominate with previously hidden secrets being revealed. Plus, as we continue to understand our individual needs more deeply following the Aries Eclipse, the shape of our future path will be made known as we journey towards our personal and collective destinies.
Any new direction can be intense and awkward, highlighting fears and uncertainty. We are unsure how to move forward but do not want to go backwards either.
What this Scorpio Full Moon assists us in is purging the final remnants of what holds us back from that. Our fears, needs to control and self sabotaging patterns.
Scorpio is the energy of transformation. It begins as the scorpion, then eagle, and finally the phoenix in its spiritual journey. Shedding its previous incarnation, like discarding a layer of skin.
This is what this Full Moon is here to help us with. The transformational process quickened first by the Aries Eclipse that triggered developments, followed by the eruptive Uranus / Jupiter conjunction just a few days ago.
All these cosmic events are working in combination. One does not stop and the other begins. They merge together as sonic waves, moving us forward while leaving behind what needs to be removed, and at a speed we may not be comfortable with.
Transformation is the death of a previous version of us. Our old life that we have outgrown, and our rebirth as someone new. This is Scorpio’s area of genius.
Scorpio is an intensely private energy. The moon is not comfortable here, especially when Full because it is completely exposed and vulnerable, with nowhere to hide. In Scorpio, the moon prefers to stay in the shadows where it can retain its privacy and sense of power by observing what is happening around them without revealing its hand.
What we resist, persists, so this Full Moon in Scorpio will bring an intensity that is necessary for us to make the required changes to our lives. Everything in the cosmos is created under pressure, and by accepting and allowing this process to happen we can allow our metamorphosis to take place more quickly and embrace the miracles awaiting us on the other side.
