Deva Cassel talks about Sisley's "Burning Rose" campaign
Model and actress Deva Cassel talks about Sisley's new autumn winter 2023-24 campaign.
Delicacy and transgression, romanticism and provocation. Sisley 's autumn-winter 2023-24 "Burning Rose" campaign is structured around these contrasts starring Deva Cassel, daughter of Monica Bellucci and actor Vincent Cassel, and Luka Isaac, French model launched by Kate Moss. A tale of forbidden love told with photographs by Pierre-Ange Carlotti and styling by Helena Tejedor. «I am at ease in Sisley's image: intimate and cheeky» says Deva, «We all have a light side and a dark side. When I'm in front of the camera or the movie camera I use both».
L'OFFICIEL: Speaking of two sides Born in Rome, but have always lived in Paris: what do you like most about these two cities?
DEVA CASSEL: I love Rome. I like its warm energy and there is something calming and relaxing about the beauty of Rome. And Paris, even though it is a very large city and an international hub for art, music, cultural events... is still a city with a good quality of life.
LOI: You just came of age, how has your life changed in the last few months?
DC: Eighteen is not just a number, but a real social change because one has the right to behave like adults and in this I feel free.
LOI: Before you were even born you participated in a photo shoot (since the mother, Monica Bellucci, posed for Vanity Fair in 2004 during her pregnancy). How do you feel when you look at those photos?
DC: Seeing my mother pregnant and so happy still moves me a lot... I've always loved those photos.
LOI: Do you ask your mom for advice or does she leave you free to make decisions and learn from your mistakes?
DC: Of course my mother gives me advice, but she also always leaves me the freedom to make my own choices. I want to go my own way.
LOI: What fascinates you most about the fashion system?
DC: I like creativity and the possibility of creating a dream, a fashion show, something that can inspire many people. Fashion is a mirror of our society in many respects.
LOI: And do you prefer to be a model or an actress?
DC: I like doing both professions because they are two different ways of representing and expressing oneself. For now, I know the world of fashion better, but I'm already on my second film experience and this too is enriching me particularly as a person.
LOI: What did you know about Sisley before becoming the protagonist of the autumn winter 2023-24 campaign?
DC: I had seen their previous campaigns, including the one with Iris Law, I really appreciate her femininity inspires me a lot.
LOI: In the campaign you play the role of a young princess who knows the sexier and darker side. Do you feel close to this character?
DC: Yes, to some extent, because we all have a light side and a dark side. When I'm in front of the camera or the movie camera I use both.
LOI: What was it like working with photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti?
DC: It was a fantastic day and there was a great chemistry with the whole team. Everyone was kind and protective of me, we created a good energy and good mood on set. I must say that I also learned new things thanks to this experience.
LOI: You appear to be very confident in the photos. Is it a trait of your personality?
DC: Thank you for noticing, surely there's a very secure part of me, but there's also a more fragile side... I'm happy that my stronger side emerges in these photos.
LOI: What is the dress you wore during the shooting and with which you felt most comfortable?
DC: I loved them all, but especially the white coat, very beautiful and comfortable. It's casual but I find it very elegant at the same time.
