Because everyone hates Emily in Paris

The phenomenon known as hate-watching affects the TV series Emily in Paris. The third season of the series currently airing on Netflix generates style disputes and more, yet it has a high share rating.

The third season of Emily in Paris has landed on Netflix among aficionados and haters. Aside from fans debating whether Emily (played by our cover star Lily Collins ) should be with Gabriel ( Lucas Bravo) or Alfie ( Lucien Laviscount ), the show's most talked about moments involve the work of the show's costume designer. Emily 's clothes have changed a lot since the first season, where it was Patricia Field (the costume designer of Sex & The City ) who directly dealt with the look of the American marketing specialist in Paris. The work of the new costume designer of the series Marylin Fitoussi is not convincing, the clothes are beautiful but the forced combinations almost ridicule the character. The triggering reason for this hatred towards the series would also be the lack of credibility of Emily's hyper-expensive wardrobe (with an estimate of around $154,000) and the fact that her looks seem to regress instead of evolving. For an ironic comment, the videos on Instagram made by Hanan Besovic of @ideservecouture are all the rage .
The term "ringarde" which identifies in French the vulgar and tacky style, used to denigrate Emily's style in the first season, and judged as extreme, instead seems to be closer than ever to reality. The only one who is convincing is Sylvie Grateau, Emily's boss, a symbol of style, whose figure is inspired by Carine Roitfeld.
In addition, the plot creaks in the theater of the absurd: Emily in Paris has not yet spoken French for more than a year, she is a strategist, social media manager but also an influencer with millions of followers (even Brigitte Macron follows her) and the rest of the characters have dream jobs, again designer clothes, and above all beautiful boyfriends. Maybe the only real reason we keep watching the series.
