Miu Miu Upcycled Holiday 2024: a fully recycled collection
For its fifth Uplycled edition, Miu Miu strengthens its commitment to sustainability and circular fashion.
Miu Miu continues to breathe new life into garments from the past, while improving the experience of those who wear them. The proof is in a collection composed exclusively of recycled leather, tartan kilts from the 1950s to the 1970s, embroidery and other fabrics from the house's archives. Each piece has its own provenance and therefore its own story.
This year, we see – among other things – vintage biker jackets paired with patched shorts and miniskirts. Those with a keen eye will recognize the floral and flame motifs from the Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2011 runway, as well as jewelled embroideries from the Miu Miu Autumn/Winter 2024 collection. Each is deconstructed, meticulously reshaped and lined in satin, and has a detachable collar. Zippers have been repositioned, hems left raw and the Miu Miu logo meticulously applied by hand.
The collection also includes hoodies, scarves and small accessories, as well as the crocheted Wander bag and knitted slippers. For the occasion, Miu Miu has partnered with the Aura Blockchain Consortium, a non-profit organization that promotes transparency and customer-centric business practices throughout the lifecycle of luxury products by leveraging blockchain and other technologies.
