But is there any way to prepare our body for the excesses of this season? According with the doctor. Pedro Andrade, one of the pioneers in precision medicine in Brazil and an enthusiast of functional medicine, the ideal is to maintain a balanced diet throughout the year so that, at this time, damage is controlled. “ The big secret to minimize the effects of typical end-of-year extravaganzas is in the before and after these events. The expert also indicates a way to maintain a more balanced diet during the holidays. “Another strategy that we can use during celebrations and also throughout the year is to prioritize proteins and salads, as they promote greater satiety leaving less room for sweets and alcoholic beverages”, he points out.

Regarding increased alcohol intake, Dr. Pedro points out that it is necessary to remain cautious so as not to effectively disrupt the diet and cause future damage, such as difficulty concentrating, decreased performance in physical activities and loss of muscle mass. “Moderation is always the key factor with regard to alcohol. However, we cannot say that its consumption alone can make the body fat or inflamed. But so that there is no damage, the recommended amount per week is 30g, which is equivalent to two glasses of wine and 660ml for fermented beverages such as beer”.

The expert also highlights some precautionary measures before consumption, so that there is no discomfort the next day. “To avoid the famous hangover, it is recommended to pay attention to hydration, in addition to having a good meal before starting to consume alcoholic beverages” , he concludes.
