Patrick Schwarzenegger: "Tommy Hilfiger is a House that stands the test of time"
Model, actor and Tommy Hilfiger muse, Patrick Schwarzenegger excels in every field he touches. L’OFFICIEL met him to talk fashion, projects and professional experience alongside his fiancée, Abby Champion.
L’OFFICIEL: What is your first memory of Tommy Hilfiger ?
Patrick Schwarzenegger : Probably when I was a kid, I had a pair of Tommy Hilfiger overalls. I remember a picture with this cool, slightly retro piece, when I was four or five years old, where I was posing next to my mother.
LO: What values do you share with the brand?
PS: When you think of Tommy, it's classy, it's American, it's timeless... All things that I hope to embody.
LO: How does it feel to be the new face of the Tommy Hilfiger campaign?
PS: It’s amazing. It’s surreal. It was especially interesting to be able to do it with Abby [Champion ] , my fiancée, and to shoot this campaign in Central Park and around New York. I’m happy to see this collaboration come to fruition, and I always hope that we continue this relationship together. Overall, I think it’s a great honor to be able to work with a brand like Tommy Hilfiger, to work with someone like Tommy. What he’s built is just an Empire, it’s a beautiful House, it’s future-proof, and it’s exciting to be a part of the journey of a brand that I got to wear as a kid, and then to be able to wear it as a young adult.
LO: Do you have a favorite piece from the collection?
PS: I often wear a pair of tweed pants, in shades of brown, which are perfect for fall and winter. I wore them for Thanksgiving, for example. And I love one of the trenches. Surprisingly, it's been pretty cold in LA the last few weeks, so it's nice to be able to put them to the test in everyday life.
LO: Tell us about your experience with your fiancée.
PS: It was really unique. When do you get to work with your partner? If it’s his usual job, for me, it’s not. I’m an actor and I loved stepping into his life, his world and his career, and asking him to show me the ropes.
LO: Do you want to share more professional experiences with her in the future?
PS: I would love to! It's so much fun, so much better, so natural to work with her rather than anyone else you don't know as well.
LO: How would you describe your relationship with fashion?
PS: It’s a way of expressing myself. I think I have to change my style all the time. Some days I wear trendy pieces. Other days I wear sportswear. And other days I wear casual suits. So I think fashion really depends on how I feel on any given day, or why I need to wear certain clothes, like for a particular event. That’s one of the coolest things about fashion: you can dress up or down, depending on how you want to express yourself or where you’re going.
LO: Three words to describe your style?
PS: Comfortable, unique… which adapts to the weather!
LO: What is your essential fashion piece?
PS: I would say Penny Loafer, a classic that everyone should have.
LO: Can you tell us more about your plans for 2025?
PS: I have The White Lotus series coming out in 2025, in February on HBO. It will be an eight-part mini-series, and I am very excited about it. It’s what I worked on for seven months in Thailand, and I can’t wait for it to finally come out!
