Miu Miu highlights women's voices with Tales & Tellers exhibition

Miu Miu has always had a fascination for the lives of women, which it never ceases to tell through its collections and its heroines. In 2011, it launched the Miu Miu Women's Tales program, a platform offered to female directors to present their vision of the plurality of femininity. On this occasion, the brand collaborated with Hailey Gates, Dakota Fanning, Chloë Sevigny, Agnès Varda, Alice Rohrwacher, Miranda July, Ava DuVernay, Zoe Cassavetes . Twenty-seven cinematographic universes.

All share these timeless questions: How do women appear to themselves? How do they appear to each other? Isn’t appearance also a political and intellectual question, difficult to separate from sensuality and pleasure? What should a woman be like today? Women’s Tales asked the filmmakers to critically examine femininity and vanity in the 21st century. In the film series, the Miu Miu collections became characters in their own right. In 2021, the brand went further and
decides to transform its fashion shows into a forum for dialogue with artists through installations and animated images, always returning to an understanding of women. This is why its participation in Art Basel Paris is not a surprise but a logical continuation of the house's evolution.

For the Tales & Tellers exhibition, Miu Miu is once again taking over the Palais d'Iena, where it usually shows, and will be screening all the commissioned short films, inviting the directors and artists who have worked on the Miu Miu shows to talk not specifically about their work, but rather about their own lives and what pushed them to become artists.
