ISLAND GLOW: Islander’s Beauty Secrets
Frederika van Hagen, celebrity facialist and beauty editor of L’Officiel Ibiza, discovers beauty tricks and secrets of Ibiza’s islanders.
Ibiza is home to a diverse and radiant community, each with their own approach to beauty and wellness. We spoke to island insiders to uncover their skincare rituals, go-to treatments and the secrets behind their effortless glow.
What wellness tricks do you swear by for glowing skin?
I avoid dairy—except for butter—because my body doesn’t tolerate it well. If I consume dairy, I get cystic acne, but when I stay away, my skin stays clear and balanced.
For an instant glow, I love morning face ice baths—they depuff and leave my skin looking fresh. I also prioritise a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables while avoiding processed foods as much as possible.
Any unconventional beauty secrets?
If you indulge in something that isn’t traditionally ‘healthy,’ just tell yourself it is—and enjoy it! I find that when I have this mindset, everything feels in balance.
What’s your current skincare lineup?
-
Mantle Hydra Serum – I love using this in the morning, massaging it into my face and neck for five minutes or more. It’s lightweight, non-oily, and never congests my skin.
-
Liv Botanic Bakuchiol – Perfect for when my skin needs extra hydration. Since it’s oil-based, I use it for longer facial massages.
-
Healthy Wear Peptide Fluid Serum – My go-to in the evenings—it leaves my skin looking refreshed and radiant by morning.

What are your best beauty and wellness tips?
I always start my day with warm water, lemon, and a pinch of Celtic salt—it's my go-to ritual for deep hydration. A collagen drink follows to support my skin from within. Rest is another non-negotiable. Being well-rested and protecting your peace isn’t just good for the soul; it’s essential for radiant skin.
I also believe in finding a skilled cosmetologist you trust—personalised care makes all the difference. And of course, SPF is a must, always.
Do you prefer natural skincare, high-tech treatments, or a mix of both?
It really depends on the season of life I’m in. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, I strictly adhere to natural skincare. Recently, I discovered cosmetic acupuncture, and I’ve been amazed by the benefits. It boosts circulation, lifts, and brightens my skin in the most natural way.
What’s the best beauty product you’ve discovered recently?
Since I was pregnant and now breastfeeding, I needed something both effective and baby-safe. I found it in Esse Bakuchiol Serum—an incredible natural alternative to retinol that keeps my skin glowing without compromise.
Mieke Trickett, KAP Practitioner
What’s your beauty must-have?
A must-have beauty product that I’ve relied on for years is Lotion P50 by Biologique Recherche—it’s been a game-changer for managing breakouts and keeping my skin balanced. Recently, I’ve also incorporated The Skinny Confidential mouth taping technique into my nighttime routine, which has significantly improved my sleep and helped prevent teeth grinding. It’s also said to help define and strengthen the jawline—an added bonus!
What’s your nighttime ritual?
My evening routine is all about unwinding and nurturing my skin. One of my favorite bedtime products is Wrinkle Schminkles under-eye patches—I love waking up to a more lifted, tighter under-eye area. I also make sure to double cleanse using Labareau The Cleanser for a deep, thorough cleanse.
How do you take care of your skin?
I’ve started taking Zooki collagen sachets, which have noticeably improved my skin’s health and strengthened my nails. I also indulge in a steam session and use Dermalux LED therapy two to three times a week for added skin benefits. A monthly professional facial keeps my skin fresh and rejuvenated.
Cristina Tosio, DJ & Music Maker
How do you take care of your skin while traveling?
I try to hydrate as much as possible by drinking water and using high-quality skincare, as planes make skin really dry. I only use Cöel —it’s the best!
What are your favorite beauty treatments?
I love the Hydrafacial to deeply cleanse my skin. Right now, I’m undergoing Morpheus8 (I’ve completed two of three sessions). It’s a radiofrequency treatment that works deep within the skin to tighten and rejuvenate. I always visit Dra. Alexia Lei in Madrid—she’s amazing!
As a DJ, how do you take care of your skin after late nights?
I always remove my makeup and moisturise, no matter how late it is or how tired I am. It’s non-negotiable!
Leah Timmins, Somatic practitioner and founder of Stretch Ibiza
What are your top beauty secrets?
- Sauna sessions—everything is better after a sauna. It improves sleep, mental clarity, focus, and keeps my skin hydrated and fresh.
- A balanced diet—I eat locally sourced, unprocessed foods. After 20 years of being vegetarian, I suffered from anemia, but reintroducing organic meat revitalised my hair, nails, skin, and even regulated my menstrual cycle. While I know this choice isn’t for everyone, it’s what works best for me.
- Lymphatic drainage, cupping, and Gua Sha—these help reduce inflammation, detoxify, and keep my energy fluid and supported.
What advice would you give to people starting these beauty habits?
Be patient and consistent! Good things take time. The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.
Where do you go in Ibiza for beauty treatments?
Anything lash and brow related the queen Jo Jam face and lastly Steffi for my nails for all my crazy nail art request.
Mari Raidal, Interior Designer
What skincare products do you use?
I swear by Marie Veronique serums, oils, and face mist—I use the complete range because the products work synergistically.
- Morning: Vitamin C serum, Barrier Protection Serum, and Protective Day Oil.
- Night: Retinol and a rich facial oil. I also apply castor oil around my eyes, eyebrows, and lashes for nourishment.
What’s your secret to keeping your skin firm and lifted?
Face yoga! If I’m consistent—five minutes in the morning and evening, plus random exercises throughout the day—my face feels tighter and less puffy in the mornings. Just paying attention to my facial muscles helps create a glow.
I also swear by a silk eye mask for reducing under-eye bags.
Face yoga is trending right now. Who do you recommend for learning at home?
I love Anastasia B’s course. She has an old-school, no-nonsense Soviet approach, which I appreciate.
If you’re starting out, take the time to do a structured course—learn the movements properly, start slow, and build up your practice. Your face will feel weird at first, some muscles might get tight, but just like any other workout, it becomes easier over time.
Anastasia’s program is great because you follow it for 21 days, send in videos for feedback, and they correct your technique so you don’t develop bad habits. I tried other methods before but never stuck with them—this one kept me accountable!
