The latest fashion trend, which isn't so new after all, is going crazy on TikTok and has football shirts as its focus. The only rule: wear them in contexts other than football

Born by Brandon Huntly on TikTok in December 2021, the Bloke Core trend is used to describe a particular aesthetic mood where the look is composed of a vintage football shirt, a pair of jeans and sneakers. The term "bloke" refers to the slang that indicates the boys in England is also called lad core (British slang is different from the American one), taking up the English football subcultures. A fashion item to all intents and purposes considering that football shirts are increasingly designed by stylists in collaboration with the most prestigious fashion houses, from Giorgio Armani for the Italian national team to Balenciaga with Rennes. Last but not least, the designer Marcello Pipitone , one of the winners of the CNMI Fashion Trust Grant 2023 who created his collection of football shirts in collaboration with Drip Italia, the first rental platform in Europe.

The hashtag #blokecore circulates on Tik Tok and Instagram almost for fun for those who choose to try their hand at sporty looks. Here are some tips for your bloke core outfit:

1 - A vintage jersey of a football team or a jersey of your favourite football team, a football team jersey made in collaboration between a football club and a sports brand such as Ac Milan and Puma

2 - It is worn with cycling shorts or inside jeans/trousers or also with a skirt in combination with sneakers and heels.

3 -  Levis jeans iarethe perfect ally, but also the inevitable adidas Samba.

Among the sports brands we find Adidas, which for some years has combined the characteristics of the sports world with that of luxury by collaborating with Prada, Gucci and Balenciaga. Among the first collaborations was the one with the English designer Grace Wales Bonner, founder of the homonymous brand Wales Bonner, in 2019. From the first collaboration with Adidas up to the spring summer 2023 presented during Pitti Uomo in Florence, the sneakers were included in the Core Black version, characterized by the tongue that refers to the Copa Mundial boots launched in 1982 by Adidas on the occasion of the World Cup.

The trend was not lacking on the catwalk either: Etro presented a reinterpretation of football shirts in the men's spring summer 2024 fashion show, the Ukrainian brand Ksenia Schnaider created a suit starting from different football shirts.
