I experience therefore I am: Glenn Martens' credo for Y/Project Fall/Winter 2023
Glenn Martens continues his experimental wardrobe concept through his unisex Fall/Winter 2023 show during Paris Fashion Week.
Create, build from nothing. And when everything has already been created, go ahead to revisit and get carried away by endless interpretations. This should be the requirement of any designer. Glenn Martens , creative director of Y/Project achieves this by editing the wardrobe, tweaking the design, deconstructing and using techniques learned over the course of his career. His unisex fall-winter 2023 collection also reveals all the knowledge he acquired from the greats of the fashion system: from Jean-Paul Gaultier , with whom he worked on his own brand's collection, to the Belgian Bruno Pieters , former creative director of Hugo Boss , mentor of Glenn Martens and pioneer of upcycling.
In this fall-winter 2023 collection, the silhouettes of Glenn Martens are associated with sculptural pieces that wrap or twist around the body thanks to metallic threads installed inside the garments. Then, the creative director of Diesel also brings his denim expertise to the Y/Project collection with a selection of garments experimenting with innovative techniques that assert shapes and volumes. And then there are the bare clothes balanced for male and female wardrobes, the high boots that become trousers, the tulle evening dresses, the trompe-l'oeil dresses that defy censorship, the triumph of embroidery deaf and creations of cutouts that structure the style of the looks. An aesthetic and stylistic glossary where the word innovate becomes the real mantra of the collection.
