Radiantly beautiful skin with Omega-3
Omega-3 fatty acids are a true all-rounder in our body. Above all, they help our skin to look beautiful and healthy.
Radiantly beautiful skin is not only a sign of health, but also a reflection of our inner balance and eating habits. Omega-3 fatty acids - the essential fats that our body cannot produce itself - play a major role in our skin. These polyunsaturated fats are not only important for general health, but also help your skin to look radiant and youthful.
Omega-3 fatty acids are abundant in fish like salmon, mackerel and sardines, as well as plant sources like flaxseeds, walnuts and chia seeds. By incorporating omega-3 rich foods into your diet, you can support your skin's health from the inside out.
Silent inflammation
Silent inflammations go unnoticed for a long time and put a strain on our body. There is no wound or swelling. Unlike infections, we do not notice silent inflammations through fever or pain. They weaken the immune system and go on for a long time without symptoms. After a while, less specific symptoms such as tiredness, headaches or night sweats can occur. Skin blemishes can also occur.
In the long term, chronic inflammation not only increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases, allergies or high cholesterol, but also premature ageing, acne and general skin problems.
Our body consists of trillions of cells. Omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids are incorporated into the cell membranes (outer skin of the cell), including of course the skin cells. With our western diet, we usually consume too many omega-6 fatty acids (e.g. in sunflower oil or pumpkin seed oil) and eat too little omega-3 . This imbalance leads to a relatively high number of omega-6 fatty acids attaching themselves to the cell membranes.
While omega-3 keeps cell membranes soft and supple (and is very important for metabolism), too many omega-6 fatty acids make the outer skin stiff and impermeable. The body uses omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids to produce highly active hormones that regulate metabolism. Omega-6 fatty acids produce pro-inflammatory substances and omega-3 fatty acids produce anti-inflammatory substances.
One of the main causes of skin problems such as acne, eczema, atopic dermatitis and premature skin aging is inflammation . The anti-inflammatory properties of Omega-3 help to reduce inflammation in the skin and thus relieve the symptoms of the skin problems.
Beautiful skin starts from within
In addition, omega-3 fatty acids strengthen the skin's moisture barrier and prevent collagen breakdown. If the moisture barrier is weakened, this leads to dry, flaky skin. Sufficient moisture makes our skin glow and at the same time protects it from harmful environmental influences.
If you are unable to get enough omega-3 fatty acids from your diet, there are now numerous nutritional supplements available. High-quality fish oils with a low TOTOX value of less than 10 (freshness value of the oil) are a good alternative. For people on a vegan diet, there are oils with omega-3 fatty acids that are extracted from algae.
