My Island: Sunshine Bertrand
The Australian eyewear designer creates cult sunglasses for the likes of Zimmerman, Jacquemus, Bottega Veneta, Chlöe and Lucy Folk.
Favourite bar and signature drink:
Pancho’s Spicy Margarita at La Paloma’s rustic outdoor bar. You know it’s made with a lot of love.
Favourite restaurant:
Casa Lhasa - for always being there as our cosy friend. It’s a place we all gather come rain or shine. The winter Sunday lunches are like a warm cuddle. They have an evolving weekly menu weekly depending on what’s available. It’s soulful and consistently great food.
Favourite chiringuito:
Nudo - the vibes represent the best of Ibiza to me. Refined menu with the best island produce, a hilarious team who you want in your gang and it’s brilliant for the kids who muck about in the waves after the perfect fish and chips. You can keep an eye on them from the table. It’s the only place my kids will eat fish. And it’s so close to home!
Best hike:
Es Portitxol - the drama is phenomenal, it’s super adventurous for the kids and the cove at the bottom is picture perfect.
Top secret spot:
Pou des Lléo fisherman’s huts. They get the very last sunlight in winter and when it’s a warm day we have a picnic supper, a swim and go crab hunting off the jetties. Nothing better than to feel the rays on our naked bodies at the time of year.
Best fashion find:
Parada in Santa Gertrudis - Sophie has a great eye and sense of what you need on this island. It’s fashion but also the best and most appropriate skin and hair care brands like Rahua. She also stocks super practical tried-and-tested (on her own family) items like water bottles and natural sunscreen for the kids. You can really trust her edit.
Best vintage:
Some of the special items in the back right corner of Annie’s Ibiza in Dalt Vila. She sometimes sells vintage from her studio archive. It’s gold.
Best for interiors:
Tanis - the couple behind this Santa Gertrudis store have exquisite taste and their products are functional and hardwearing in this often harsh environment. My much-used outdoor furniture and cushions are all from there.
Where to dance:
Circoloco at DC-10 – where else!?
Ride or die party pal:
Serena Cook!! I literally turn up and everything is deliciously sorted :)
What I miss most about Ibiza when away:
The ocean. It’s some of the most oxygenated and healing ocean water in the world due to the Posidonia, a sea grass unique to this area. IbizaPreservation do the most wonderful work to protect it.
Most influential art gallery or museum:
Gathering in San Miguel. Recently we saw a wonderful exhibition by a friend Stefan Brüggemann with works from Bruce Nauman. It was classic Ibiza style - kids running amok and included at the opening party.
Best therapy / therapist:
Hands down Frederika Van Hagen for facials. She uses the perfect blend of modern techniques with facial and buccal massage. She also has this incredible facial oil called Saent that you can buy from Jondal or Le Bon Marche.
How I switch off:
Long wild and meditative open-water swimming with my dearest girlfriends. We have a very special guide who is a real-life mermaid – she takes us on adventures that continually blow my mind.
