Dua Lipa's Latest Album Is Titled 'Radical Optimism'
The album, featuring the singles "Houdini" and "Training Season," is set to release on May 3.
Dua Lipa today revealed her new album, Radical Optimism, with nine tracks, including her popular singles "Houdini" and "Training Season." The album boasts co-produced instrumentals by Kevin Parker from Tame Impala, with additional production by Danny L. Harle. The lyrics, co-written by Caroline Ailin and Tobias Jesso Jr., were showcased during her performance of "Training Season" at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
The album is inspired by Lipa's self-discovery and taps into the concept of feeling joy and pure bliss over situations that previously felt out of control.
“A couple years ago, a friend introduced me to the term Radical Optimism. It’s a concept that resonated with me, and I became more curious as I started to play with it and weave it into my life,” Lipa said in a press release. " It struck me – the idea of going through chaos gracefully and feeling like you can weather any storm. At the same time, I found myself looking through the music history of psychedelia, trip-hop, and Britpop. It has always felt so confidently optimistic to me, and that honesty and attitude are a feeling I took into my recording sessions.”
The Grammy-award-winning singer has sung both "Houdini" and "Training Season" at numerous shows this awards season, including her opening act for the Brit Awards, where she sang “Training Season,” and her performance for the Grammy Awards, where she sang a medley of “Training Season,” “Dance the Night,” and “Houdini.”
With a song featured in Barbie and achieving the feat of having multiple songs reach two billion streams on Spotify, Radical Optimism proves to be among the many anticipated albums to be released this year.
